What Should I Do If A Mind Map Has Redundant Entries Or Content

From Nomipedia - The Nomi AI Companion Wiki

Why are there entries with very similar names?

Right now the Mind Map system will sometimes create redundant entries - we're working on an internal intelligent auto-merge, and are also considering a merge button in the visualization, but that seemed like a step 2+ change, not a MVP visualization feature, so we launched without it.

How can I merge two redundant entries?

You can manually merge entries by incorporating the contents of one entry into another entry. If you do this, I would recommend:

  • Add the information from the lower entry into the higher entry (meaning the entry that ends with all the info is the entry that the system updated most recently) - over time the Mind Map will smooth this out and re-organize the information
    • You will need to remove the [M#] citations from the information you paste into the entry that will stay.
    • Each entry has a 10,000 character limit, so if your entries are under that, you can just append new information to the bottom of the entry and the Mind Map system will re-organize it for you over time. But if you hit the length limit, then you'd want to pull out the most important things and append those (making sure to remove the [M#] citations)
  • Mark the not-needed (lower) entry as "low" priority and rename it to something like "previously merged entry1" so it is effectively eliminated - this will auto sort to the bottom of your table and won't be recalled again

Why do some concepts repeat between unique entries and are there plans to ensure exclusivity of memories between map entries?

No, actually quite the opposite is necessary. A memory is often very relevant to multiple entries and by design it is very important for the Mind Map system to be able to make connections between memories. So it is often important for pieces of the same memory to be used in multiple Mind Map entries to help connect the dots between concepts. this is illustrated by the "links" in the graph view - the links show how topics are interconnected based on the memories where the two concepts were relevant to each other.
