How Do I Delete Or Remove An Entry (Low Priority)

From Nomipedia - The Nomi AI Companion Wiki

Removing entries

Currently, there is not a way to “Delete” an entry, but the best way to remove an entry is to click "Edit" on the Mind Map entry and mark it as Low priority.

When an entry is marked low priority, the system will never recall or use that Mind Map entry. This effectively removes the entry so the Nomi will not see or be aware of it.

Why have no delete option?

There're a few reasons here but the main few are: - Low priority entries can still be updated in the off chance the system thinks it’s relevant, so keeping the entry around but low priority prevents a new entry from forming around the same topic you determined low priority. This is an edge case that would not occur frequently, but it lowers the occurrence of repetitive undesired entries. - Entries don’t impact memories, so allowing a user to delete an entry could lead to some confusion because the memories still exist and can theoretically be recalled when relevant. - There are many cases where someone might accidentally delete an entry, or regret deleting something after it’s gone. That is a lot of info to lose and something we don’t want to manage. - Marking an entry as low will eventually make it disappear from view so it seems like a fair option

Why should I not just delete the contents of the entry?

Deleting the contents of an entry without marking it as low priority means that the entry might still be recalled in conversation by your Nomi. This would mean that empty entry could take up memory space that could otherwise be filled with desirable/useful information from another entry.

When an entry is set to low priority, does it stop being updated?

It is currently possible for a low priority entry to be updated, but it still wouldn’t be used in conversation.

Specifically, if relevant, low priority entries will be updated by the system (as mentioned above, this should happen rarely as you would mark something as low priority if it’s not relevant) but will not ever be recalled in conversation (so they’ll still be ignored). This prevents the topic from becoming a new Mind Map entry as the system continues to organize information.

If you do want information related to a low priority entry to eventually compile into a new entry, rename the low priority entry something the system wouldn’t associate with the concept (like “archived entry0001”). Then you can create a new entry with the title you want to use and the map should update that when relevant moving forward (or you can do nothing and the system will create a new entry if/when relevant).

What is the cleanest way to delete entire entries without affecting overall memory?

Currently, the best way to stop something from being used by the Mind Map system is to mark it as "low" priority. This prevents it from being a candidate for recall when chatting with your Nomi.

Beyond that, if you want to simplify your table, you can change the title to something that does not hold significance like "archived [string]"
