How is information added to Mind Maps?

Mind Maps update automatically over time as you chat with your Nomi. Existing entries can continue evolving, including entries you have edited or created yourself.
For a new Nomi or group chat, it can take up to roughly 500 messages for the initial Mind Map structure to begin forming. The system needs enough conversation history to identify which topics are important and how they relate to one another.
Information generally needs to reach long-term memory before it can be incorporated into a Mind Map. This can take roughly 50 to 150+ messages, depending on the topic and how often it comes up.
Mind Maps are designed to represent broader, meaningful concepts rather than every individual fact. For example, a single mention of a favorite color may remain in memory without becoming its own Mind Map entry, while an ongoing vacation, relationship, location, or roleplay theme may eventually develop into one.
Do user-created or edited entries update automatically?
Yes. User-created and user-edited entries can continue to update when relevant information appears in conversation.
A user-created entry may initially appear without connections in Graph View. As the topic comes up in conversation, the entry can gain more information and form connections with other entries.
Why isn’t my user-created entry updating?
If an entry is not updating, first make sure enough conversation has occurred for relevant information to reach the Mind Map.
The title of the entry also matters. Titles that are overly broad, overly detailed, or phrased very differently from how the topic appears in conversation may be harder for the system to associate with relevant information.
For example:
- Good: Northern Salt Mines
- Too detailed: Location: The Salt Mines (In North Region)
- Too broad: Mines
Choose a title that closely matches how the topic is naturally discussed.
Do low-priority entries update automatically?
Low-priority entries may still update when relevant, but they are not normally recalled during conversation. If you want to reduce the chance of a low-priority entry being associated with new information, you can also rename it to something less closely related to the original topic.
