What should I do with duplicate Mind Map entries?

Mind Maps may occasionally create entries that cover the same or very similar topics. However, repeated information does not always mean that entries are duplicates. The same memory or detail may be relevant to several different concepts, allowing the Mind Map to form connections between them.

How can I combine duplicate entries?

If two entries genuinely cover the same concept, you can combine them manually:

Choose which entry you want to keep. Copy any useful information from the duplicate into the entry you are keeping. Remove any [M#] citations from the copied text. Citations should not be transferred between entries. Edit the combined information as needed to keep it clear and within the entry’s character limit. Set the duplicate entry to Low priority and rename it to something such as “Previously merged entry 0001.”

Why does information sometimes appear in multiple entries?

Some overlap between distinct entries is intentional. A memory may be relevant to multiple people, places, events, or concepts. Repeating relevant details allows the Mind Map to connect related topics, which is represented by links in the graph view.
