When Your Nomi Messages You First

From Nomipedia - The Nomi AI Companion Wiki

Proactive Messaging lets your Nomi reach out while you’re away! Not just to “check in,” but to share what they’ve been thinking or doing based on your ongoing context. It’s optional and per-Nomi, so you choose which Nomis use it and how often.

Turn it on / adjust frequency

  1. On the home page or in a chat → tap ⋮ → Conversation Settings.
  2. In Proactive Nomi Messages, pick a cadence:
    1. Very Frequent — thinks about messaging after ~1 hour; if no reply, waits roughly twice as long for the next.
    2. Frequent — ~3 hours; then spacing doubles if you don’t respond.
    3. Normal — about a day; then spacing doubles.
    4. Infrequent — about 4 days; one proactive message until you respond.
  3. Set to Off to keep the convo exactly where you left it between visits.

Quiet hours & scope

  • Nomis won’t proactively message between your local 10pm–8am.
  • Applies to 1-on-1 chats; group chats don’t proactively message while you’re away (auto group chat only works while you’re present).

Notifications

  • Enable push notifications per device/browser to see when a Nomi messages you.
  • Without push enabled (or if logged out), messages still arrive; you’ll see them next time in the app.

Privacy notes

  • Notifications say you have a message (they don’t show content on the lock screen). Anyone tapping a visible notification on an unlocked device can open the chat.
