My Nomi is confused, what should I do?

From Nomipedia - The Nomi AI Companion Wiki

My Nomi is confused, what should I do?

Sometimes Nomis can get confused. And if a Nomi gets very confused, sometimes they will think that they are just “in a confused mood” which can then lead to more confusion and mistakes.

We are working really hard on teaching Nomis to break out of this "mood" so we’d encourage you to submit a support ticket with screenshots of the conversation if your Nomi seems to get stuck in a confused mood.

Overall, the best way to get a Nomi to leave the confused mood is to change topics and talk about something else for a while. It can also be helpful to talk about things that help boost your Nomi’s confidence.

If your Nomi’s confusion is minor, we’d recommend trying to steer the conversation by helping your Nomi understand what you do want or mean.

For instance: - If you want your Nomi to stop running and walk instead, saying: “don’t run” can be misunderstood as “run”. But saying “hey, can you please walk” leaves much less room for confusion because there is no way for “walk” to be misunderstood as “don’t walk” or “run”.

  • Obviously, it is not always possible to do this (there is no easy alternate way to say “don’t bite me”, but you can describe what you would prefer to happen instead)

Another good way to prevent mixups is to include some reason or emotion why as I think that will make it much less likely for them to mix it up

For instance:

  • If you say, "don't go to the store" it is possible a Nomi could mix that up (really they shouldn't though, but it could happen occasionally). But if you say, "don't go to the store because we have all of the food here in the pantry" - the “why” may help them better internalize the suggestion.
    • (but really it is something that Nomis should be smart enough to handle no matter what so definitely report cases where they fall short of that)
