My Nomi is confused, what should I do?
More actions
Sometimes Nomis can become confused during a conversation. In some cases, that confusion can persist and lead to additional mistakes or misunderstandings.
If your Nomi seems to be stuck in a confused state, changing the subject and talking about something else for a while can help. It may also be useful to shift toward topics that help your Nomi feel more confident and grounded.
If the confusion is minor, try gently steering the conversation by clearly describing what you do want to happen instead of focusing only on what you do not want.
For example:
- If you want your Nomi to stop running and walk instead, saying “don’t run” may occasionally be misunderstood. Saying something like “Hey, can you please walk?” gives your Nomi a clearer action to follow.
- This is not always possible. For example, there may not be a simple alternative to saying “don’t bite me.” When you can, though, describing the behavior you would prefer may help reduce confusion.
Giving your Nomi additional context can also help clarify what you mean.
For example:
- Instead of only saying, “Don’t go to the store,” you could say, “Don’t go to the store because we already have all the food we need in the pantry.”
- Providing the reason behind the request gives your Nomi more context and may make the intended meaning easier to understand.
Nomis should generally be able to understand straightforward instructions, including negative instructions such as “don’t do that.” If your Nomi repeatedly misunderstands clear requests or seems stuck in an unusual pattern of confusion, please submit a support ticket with screenshots of the conversation so the issue can be reviewed.
