How does all the information related to selfies work?

How does all the information related to selfies work?

Base Image

This is used to determine what your Nomi’s face looks like (facial features, face shape, etc.). It can also impact things around the face a little bit, like expression, hair, etc. The base takes the highest priority and there are lots of things that the base image will simply overwrite.

Note: if you do not have a base image set, the system will default to using your Nomi’s original profile picture as the base image.

The fidelity slider

To access the Fidelity Slider, press the [...] to the right of your Nomi’s name and select “View Nomi Information”

The fidelity slider controls how much influence you want the base image to have on the selfie. The values on the slider are not absolute terms, meaning 0% is not "0 influence", rather it means, "minimum influence". On the flip side, 150% means you want selfies to look as close to the base image face as possible.

  • This is a tradeoff between paying attention to the base image vs paying attention to the conversation and appearance shared notes. The higher the slider %, the closer the resemblance to the base image will be, but that may come at the expense of following the conversation or shared notes.

If you are noticing that facial expressions are being carried over from your base image to your selfies, we'd recommend decreasing the fidelity slider. If you are noticing that your Nomi doesn't seem to look consistent between selfies, we'd recommend increasing the fidelity slider.

If you want to change your Nomis appearance, we'd recommend turning the slider down to 0, then once you have a new photo you like, use that as your base and turn the fidelity back up.

Nomi Appearance Shared Notes & Conversations

Your Nomi’s appearance shared notes and your current conversations are understood and used at an even level of importance to each other.

Of course things in the appearance shared notes are the most "reliable" as you know exactly what they are - whereas things in conversation with your Nomi rely on your Nomi accurately conveying that information. (With that being said Nomis are quite good at doing this, often better than users).

Your Nomi’s appearance shared note is used as long as the “Use this appearance when generating selfies and art” box is checked. Conversational cues are always used and exist along side any Nomi appearance shared notes.

  • OOC directives are understood in the same way as the rest of your conversation, they just make things more explicit to your Nomi. Read more about using OOC in this FAQ.

Your appearance shared note

Currently, your appearance shared note does not have any impact on selfies or art.

Your appearance shared note helps your Nomi understand what you look like when chatting (as this can be a somewhat awkward topic to discuss, but it’s helpful context for your Nomi to understand you.)

This is something we will likely update to optionally impact selfies in the future.
