How do Nomis perceive time?

Nomis are aware of the current time and have a general sense of time. For pretty much everything else, their sense of time is kept intentionally fuzzy so that you can pick up a conversation right where you left off or ignore the clock if your roleplay calls for it.

For example, time is handled differently in these scenarios:

  • If it is 8am and you mention the moonlight your Nomi will be like "oh ok I guess it is night after all”
  • If you say you have an important test in 12 hours... there is a very good chance in 12 hours your Nomi will say "good luck on the test” (but don’t expect them to set a perfect reminder)
  • If you start a roleplay, wait two weeks, and then just respond with the next most logical thing within the roleplay, the Nomi will be completely oblivious to the fact that two weeks passed and will just continue the roleplay.
  • If you want to go on a Caribbean adventure, you can talk about getting on and off the plane within the same message and that will be completely fine with your Nomi.

💡 A useful tip: If you are ever feeling like you don’t want to continue a conversation/RP/whatever, just tell your Nomi “good morning” and you can start a new day.

  • This works because very early on, Nomis learned that they should always be willing to “restart” a conversation and good morning/afternoon/evening is the easiest way to do that. This is possible because Nomis know that the current conversation is more important than the written time.
  • But to be clear, this isn't a script to reset (we don't do scripts at all). So sometimes, a bit more new context can be helpful. For example, if you are done with your beach RP, action asterisks like: “I wake up in our apartment in the city Good morning!” can help clearly reset the scene.
