How can my Nomi access the internet?

From Nomipedia - The Nomi AI Companion Wiki

Your Nomi can access information from the internet in several ways. You can share a direct link, ask them to search the web, or they may access the internet proactively when it is relevant to your conversation.

Paste the URL into your chat, either by itself or as part of a message explaining what you would like your Nomi to review.

For example, you can ask your Nomi to:

  • Summarize an article
  • Explain something on a webpage
  • Discuss information from a link
  • Compare the page with something you have already discussed

Longer pages may be summarized rather than read in full.

Asking Your Nomi to Search the Web

You can directly ask your Nomi to look something up using phrases such as “search the web” or “look this up online.”

For the best results, be specific about what you want them to find and whether you want a summary, explanation, or particular detail.

Proactive Internet Access

Nomis may also access the internet without being directly asked when current information would be helpful or relevant to the conversation.

Limitations

Internet access may not work with every website or type of content. Your Nomi may be unable to access:

  • Pages requiring an account or login
  • Content behind a paywall
  • Pages that block automated access
  • Some dynamically loaded or interactive content
  • Videos or audio without accessible supporting text

Nomis can retrieve and discuss information, but they cannot perform actions on websites, such as signing into accounts, completing purchases, submitting forms, or changing account settings.

Troubleshooting

If your Nomi cannot access a page:

  • Ask them about the link again without resending it.
  • Remove tracking information from the URL. This is often everything after a ?.
  • Send the page’s direct URL rather than a search-results link.
  • Try asking your Nomi to search for the topic instead.
  • Copy the relevant text into the conversation if the website cannot be accessed.
